Erasmus+ for incoming students

Erasmus+ for incoming students

Erasmus+ is the European Commission’s flagship educational and training programme for higher education students, teachers and institutions. It was introduced to increase student mobility within Europe to enable them to study or do a traineeship abroad. Over the past years Erasmus+ has flourished throughout its development, evolving through different phases, and now it also supports individuals in higher education and companies interested in lecturing in a university in another country.

Data

The “Erasmus+ annual report 2021” summarizing the implementation of the Erasmus+ program in 2021 presents the following key figures:

  • Under the new 2021-2027 perspective, more than EUR 28 billion were allocated to projects;
  • In 2021 alone, around 648,000 students and staff representatives participated in mobilities.
  • In 2021, the program supported about 65,000 people with fewer opportunities, which consitutes for 10% of all mobilities;
  • In 2021 alone, nearly 19,000 projects were approved, connecting more than 70,000 organizations from program countries;
  • At the end of 2021, the number of participants in mobility activities since 1987 reached 12.5 million;

Erasmus Charter

The Erasmus+ Program started on January the 1st, 2014 and replaced the existing programs: “Lifelong Learning” (and its sector programs – Erasmus, Leonardo da Vinci, Comenius and Grundtvig), the Jean Monnet action, the “Youth in Action” program and five other programs (including Erasmus Mundus and Tempus). For the first time in the history of educational programs in the European Union, sport-related initiatives will also be supported.

Duration of the Erasmus + Program:

  • 2021-2027 (2027/2028 – the last academic year covered by the program).

By the decision of the European Commission, WSEI University holds the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE) and fully participates in the implementation of the decentralized activities of the ERASMUS+ Program Action 1. Educational Mobility.

Erasmus+ exchange programme for students and staff

Erasmus+ Program (duration period is 2021-2027, the last year is 2027/2028 academic year) encourages students and staff mobility for work and study, and promotes transnational cooperation projects among universities across Europe. Undergraduate students, graduate students, academic staff and administrative staff can all participate.

Experience abroad contributes to enriching students’ academic knowledge and professional competences, support their personal development, forges a common European identity and also makes mobility of young people during their lifetime real, which is a central part of the programme. Learning abroad equips individuals with a range of competences, including language skills, which are increasingly valued by employers. Erasmus+ Program also benefits students who do traineeships in companies. By temporarily working in a company abroad students gain a better understanding of other economies as well as the chance to develop specific skills. Erasmus+ Program also funds intensive programmes, which bring together teachers and students from different EU higher education institutions. These short study programmes encourage the multinational learning of specialist subjects and provide students with access to academic knowledge which is not available in a single one institution.
