LubJam 2025 at WSEI University with record attendance and projects

From Friday to Sunday, WSEI University in Lublin hosted LubJam 2025, a 48-hour gaming marathon that attracted enthusiasts not only from Poland but also abroad to our University. This year’s edition was a national record in terms of the number of participants and projects.

Participants of the marathon were welcomed to our University by Dr Sylwester Bogacki, Professor of WSEI University, Vice-Rector for Development and Strategy: - I am glad that we can host you at our University. I would also like to thank Dr Michalina Gryniewicz-Jaworska, Prof. of WSEI University and Dean of the Faculty of Transportation and Information Technology for initiating this event right here.

On Friday evening, the participants learned the theme of the marathon - it's the word “bubble". On the spot, they joined into groups whose task was to prepare the design of the game, so everything depended on efficient group work and creative invention.

Dominik, Julia, Filip, Kacper, Jakub, Roxana and Gabriela are a team of seven, united by a common passion and studies: - We come from different places, but we study in Lublin. We are taking part in the gaming marathon for the umpteenth time. It's not new to us, but we think it's great fun that's why we're here again - they recounted.

- We know each other's skills, so we knew how to divide the work in the team. This is our one more LubJam, so we knew how to organize ourselves and what mistakes to avoid. We are satisfied with our project - Roksana said. Her colleague Kacper added: - We evaluate our project really very well. It came out great.

Another team consisting of Kacper and Mikolaj - came from outside Warsaw: - We are united by a common passion, and this is in fact our another LubJam. We already have a game design, we're just checking if it works - they reported on Sunday before 3 pm.

Kacper liked the “bubble” theme better, Nikolai was hoping for a different one: - But we still like what we created - they stressed.

The event, which was organized by the Lublin GameDev Foundation and WSEI University, is part of the celebration of the 25th anniversary of our University.

It is also part of the 11th edition of the Global Game Jam - similar marathons are held at the same time in various places around the world.

Intense work continued from Friday evening through Saturday until Sunday evening, when teams presented their game projects after 48 hours.

LubJam 2025 was a record-breaker nationwide - it was our University that had the largest number of participants for the marathon - as many as 143, and we had the largest number of projects - 34.

- The goal of the Global Game Jam is to educate participants in game design and develop their digital competence. This year we had a record number of registered participants. They came to us not only from Lublin and all over Poland, but even from abroad. The participants worked hard on their projects. All the projects that were created during LubJam 2025 are really sensational. The teams did a great job - assessed Patryk Galach, president of the Lublin GameDev Foundation.

- We can safely say that this year's edition of the marathon was a success. Everyone is tired, but satisfied with the results of their work. And that's what it was all about - summed up Dr Michalina Gryniewicz-Jaworska, Prof. of WSEI University and Dean of the Faculty of Transportation and Information Technology.

Thank you for your participation and creative work. We look forward to seeing you next year!
