Lectures, workshops, and a gaming zone – all of this awaits game development enthusiasts at the “Lublin – The European Capital of GameDev” conference. The event will take place on March 29 at WSEI University in Lublin.
The conference features lectures, workshops, and panel discussions on game development and game jams, as well as a gaming zone showcasing productions by independent creators. It is funded by the City of Lublin as part of the Lublin Academic 2025 program.
- This is a fantastic opportunity to gain inspiration, make connections, and learn how to start or advance a career in the game development industry - says PhD. Eng. Michalina Gryniewicz-Jaworska, Dean of the Faculty of Transport and Computer Science.
Participants will also explore the history and evolution of Game Jams - intensive game development marathons that are growing in popularity. The discussions will highlight how Game Jams contribute to skill development, foster creative communities, and shape modern game production practices. This analysis will provide a deeper understanding of this phenomenon as a vital element of contemporary gaming culture.
Additionally, workshops are planned where attendees will have the opportunity to develop their own game concepts, refine key ideas, and analyze how a creative approach can help them succeed in Game Jams and other development challenges.
There will also be discussions on potential technical challenges, optimization strategies, and best practices for planning game production. The workshops will serve as an excellent introduction to implementing creative ideas effectively in the Godot Engine.
During the workshops, participants will also create a series of modular 3D models in a low-poly style. The textures will be based on a color and gradient atlas, which attendees will create themselves and then use to texture their models.
