Since 1976 he has been employed at the Lublin University of Engineering and then at the Lublin University of Technology, since 2006 as a professor. He served as pro-rector (2002-2008) and rector of Lublin University of Technology (2008-2012). From 2003 to 2008 employed at the University of Economics and Innovation in Lublin as an academic staff member. Since 2022, employed at WSEI University in Lublin as a research and teaching position at the Faculty of Transport and Information Technology.
Scientific research covers the fields of machinery and vehicle construction and operation, agricultural engineering, food industry machinery. He has published as author or co-author about 250 scientific publications (including 18 books), as well as 12 patents and utility models.
He is a member of several committees of the Lublin Branch of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
He served as vice-president of the Polish Society of Food Processing Engineering and Technology SPOMASZ and the Polish Scientific and Technical Society of Exploitation. Appointed to the program boards of the journals “ Advances in Food Processing Technology”, “ Food Processing Engineering”, “Science and Technology” and others.
He has many years of teaching experience at all levels of education (undergraduate, engineering, master's, postgraduate, doctoral). Supervisor of 4 doctoral dissertations and about 250 graduate theses. Author of about 50 reviews of scientific achievements, including 16 doctoral dissertations, 14 postdoctoral dissertations and 17 applications for the title of professor; also supervisor of two applications for the award of honorary doctorate and reviewer of one such application. Member of the scientific committees of many conferences, both domestic and foreign.
Awarded, among others, the Golden Cross of Merit (2004) and the Medal of the Commission of National Education (2003). He received honorary doctorates from two universities: Drohobych State Pedagogical University (2006) and Sumy State University in Ukraine. He holds the title of honorary professor of Vinnitsa National Technical University, Lublin University of Technology.
